Saltwater Fly Fishing:
Cast a fly to huge surface schools of kahawai and trevally at the famous Astrolabe reef. The sights are spectacular as they crash your lure in large packs beside the boat in clear water. The noise as the larger predators (marlin/shark/kingfish) crash through the schools is thrilling. Quite the spectacular day! We also boast the best yellowtail kingfish fishery on the planet – perhaps the ultimate sport on saltwater fly gear. Fly casting experience is not necessary as flies can be trolled with exceptional results.

 Big Game Fishing:
Marlin, tuna, shark, broadbill swordfish…they’re all out there and they’re all big. Chance your arm at catching the ultimate big game fish. Trolling lures or livebaiting around the huge surface bait schools. Three species of marlin haunt the Bay of Plenty waters. The biggest is the Black marlin with an average weight of 300 kilo’s, followed by the Blues at average 200 kilo’s, and lastly the most prolific of our billfish species – the striped marlin, average 100 kilo’s. Mahimahi (dolphinfish), and short billed spearfish also feature in our warm summer waters.
